During the YMAD Opening Ceremonies, we will welcome James Temple, the Director of Corporate Responsibility of Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the PwC Canada Foundation.

Zahra Ebrahim, OCAD University Prof, Creativity Architect and founder of ArchiTEXT, Design Walkin, and the Community. Design. Initiative will be speaking on the power of design in building community.

A special guest visiting from Ghana, Peter Awin, will be speaking about the youth conferences he runs in Africa through his organization, AfriLEAD.

The Topic Talks will include individual talks on 5 topics in 5 separate rooms.

These include the United Way of Peel Region’s Jenn Davis, who will be speaking on Poverty Alleviation¬†and how it affects local youth in her Topic Talk,¬†Diminish Deprivation.

Youth environmental activist Rahul Metha of PEYA (Peel Environmental Youth Alliance) will be speaking on various Environmental Issues with a local focus in his Topic Talk, Earth Ethos.

True Rebel’s¬†Ken Dryfhout of The DAM Youth Drop-In Centre will be speaking about Diversity and Inclusion in¬†his Topic Talk,¬†Destroy Discrimination.

Aboriginal Elder Cat Criger of the University of Toronto: Mississauga and Peel Aboriginal Network will be speaking on various Aboriginal Issues in his Topic Talk, Real Reservations.

Canadian Mental Health Association’s Tammy Whelen (CMHA Peel) will be speaking on the topic of Mental Health, with a focus on youth in her Topic Talk,¬†Mental Matters.

During the Community Challenge work period for students, two Educator Workshops will be taking place. The first is being facilitated by Making-it-Happen Specialist Joann Lim of Big Picture Fine Focus, followed by Ilana Ben-Ari and Gonzalo Riva of award-winning social enterprise Twenty One Toys, on creative tools to to teach Empathy, Collaboration and Innovation.
